The new moisture meter and sensor
measures the moisture level in substrate materials e.g. Co-Co peat medium,
Rock-wool medium, peat mixes, or any other growing medium for greenhouse
flower and vegetable crops. The easy to use moisture meter allows you to enter a set point, enter a specific dead band, and starts the irrigation program once levels fall below the set point. The EC-5 sensor is also used with the Fertigation Manager ™ program to measure moisture or water content level in various growing mediums for greenhouse substrate crops. The sensors provide a means for monitoring the moisture levels in several different locations throughout the greenhouse. The grower can select in the software which sensor belongs to a specific group of irrigation valves and start the irrigation based on the average readings of all sensors assigned to that group. There are 10 irrigation programs available and each program can have any where from 4 sensors to a maximum of 32 sensors for each irrigation valve group. CCS 8750 Substrate Moisture Meter with the EC- 5 moisture sensor will save water and fertilizer by avoiding unnecessary watering of your crop. In many cases growers water their crops on a regular time schedule. This standard method of watering in many cases causes over watering and the grower faces higher water and fertilizer costs. The direct measurement of water moisture in bags or grow medium means that you only irrigate when the plant wants water therefore you save water and fertilizer. Also since you now have multiple readings of moisture in the growing medium at various locations throughout the greenhouse this saves labor since you do need some one to go around checking the growing bags or pots to see if you are over watering or under watering. |
